Two Days Workshop Level 1 Athens
Sep 28 - 29 , 10 am - 2 pm (no previous experience needed)
Join me in Athens at the serene Calma Studio for a two-day immersive workshop focused on hand-building Women Vessels through coiling techniques. As we create together, I'll share valuable insights from my personal journey with clay, along with wisdom passed down to me by my generous teachers and mentors. When Woman 1 (shown right) was fired, I reflected on its curves. There were parts in perfect flow and others completely misaligned. I began dreaming of a new piece, one where I could preserve what I loved and amend the ‘weak’ spots. This physical contemplation led to Woman 2, and continuing this process has brought me to today, five years later, having recently completed Woman 300. The more time passes the more I’m learning to collaborate with clay in a way that honors its limitations while also freeing my creative desires. Coiling has its do’s and don’ts. Through trial and error, I continue to develop systems that guide me through this process. My intention with this workshop is to share what I’ve learned so far, those systems and skills, with you. I hope they will provide a map for you to easier navigate your own practice and bring you some steps closer to what you have envisioned making yourself. We will cover: Coil Preparation, Design of Form, Pinching & Coiling, Asymmetrical Curves, Change of Directions, Bellying Out, Horizontal Coiling, Narrow Necks Beginners & advanced students most welcome - the complexity of the form can be adjusted to your level of experience. To maintain depth and intimacy spots are very limited and this experience is limited to 8 participants.
