Built over six weeks and dried for three months, the piece was bisque fired, glazed with shino, and wood-fired in an anagama kiln for four days. Positioned towards the front of the kiln, it gathered heavy ash, fire, and soda. The resulting multilayered surface contrasts with the protected interior, which reveals a soft, exciting pink hue — a result of being oriented away from the direction of the incoming wood and flame. Outer and inner worlds at play.
