Join me for an immersive 4-day workshop where we’ll explore the art of coiling and create two iterations of the Woman Vessel. This workshop combines elements from both Level 1 and Level 2, offering a comprehensive experience for beginners and more experienced participants alike. By completing both levels, you will learn to blend two distinct approaches—moving between specific, pre-planned vision and intuitive experimentation. Level 1: The Intuitive Approach (Days 1-2) In the first two days, we take a more intuitive approach to the craft. I will guide you through creating your own version of the Woman Vessel, focusing on the relationship between your hands and the clay. Fundamentals: Clay preparation, making and attaching coils, and forming the vessel. Technique: Mastering asymmetrical curves, changes in direction, and forming a narrow neck. Goal: To refine your coiling technique and explore organic, fluid forms. Level 2: The Structural Approach (Days 3-4) On days 3 and 4, we move into a structural approach, diving deeper into the design process to transform a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional form. Precision: Working from a diagram of the vessel’s section, featuring an inwardly shaped groove. Planning: Learning to control material and gravity through thoughtful planning and dimensions. Goal: To gain better control over the clay, allowing you to execute specific curves and precise, envisioned forms. Workshop Logistics: Duration: 4 Days (Comprehensive Level 1 & 2). Materials: All materials provided. Firing & Collection: Because of the slow drying process required to avoid cracks, your pieces will take approximately 8 weeks to be fired and ready. Collection details will be arranged via email. Booking Terms: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the workshop (you will receive a payment link via email).
