Join me for a two-day workshop where you will learn how to coil a Woman Vessel. I will share what I’ve found to be helpful during my personal experience with clay, and knowledge that was passed to me from masters of the craft, with gratitude to women potters from the Taounate area in the Rif Mountains of Morocco. I will guide you through the making process of this shape that uses coiling in various ways, all of which we will explore together. Under my guidance, you will create your own iteration of the Woman Vessel pictured above. What you will explore: Fundamentals: Clay preparation, making coils, and attachment techniques (perfect for those with no previous experience). Form & Technique: Understanding asymmetrical curves, changing directions, and forming a narrow neck. Advanced Iterations: Students with experience may proceed to horizontal coiling and "belly-ing out" a form. By the end of this workshop, these valuable skills will stay with you, with hope to expand the range of forms you are able to create as you begin your own journey with clay. Workshop Logistics: Location: Unit 9D, Queen's Yard, E9 5EN, London. Duration: Two 4-hour sessions (10 am to 2 pm). Intimacy: Maximum of 8 attendees. Materials: All materials provided. Firing & Collection: Your work will be fired for you. Please note these shapes require a very slow drying cycle (to ensure even shrinkage and avoid cracks); therefore, your piece will be ready for collection in 8 weeks. Collection will be arranged via email. Booking Terms: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the workshop via an email payment link.
