Join me for a six-day ONLINE masterclass where we will build Woman 169, a larger-scale sculptural vessel standing at approximately 50 cm (19.5 inches). This workshop is a deep dive into advanced coiling, specifically focusing on the challenge of building a closed sculptural form. Moving beyond open vessels, I will guide you through the structural logic required to support a large body of clay as it tapers and closes, refining your technique to ensure the form remains precise and intentional from base to peak. What you will achieve: Sculptural Mastery: Learn the specific techniques required to build and close a large-scale sculptural form. Structural Engineering: Understand how to manage the weight of 24 kg of clay across a 50 cm height. Phased Construction: Master building in stages, using time as a tool to allow the lower walls to support the closing upper form. Choose Your Experience Option 1: Live Sessions Join us on February 17, 18, 19 & 24, 25, 26, 2026 for real-time guidance and live Q&A. The split-week schedule is essential for allowing the clay to set between the building phases. Option 2: Recording Only For self-paced learning, receive access to the full recordings after the live sessions conclude. Note: All recordings are available for 360 days to ensure you have time for independent practice. Prerequisites & Preparation Important: This workshop is designed exclusively for those who have completed Level 1 & Level 2 (online or in person). Closing a form of this scale requires the foundational control established in earlier levels. You will need: Clay: 24 kg of clay with high grog (critical for structural strength). Base: A wooden batt of approximately Ø 30 cm. Tools: Ruler, sponge, knife, needle, metal kidney, serrated kidney, surform, banding wheel, and a hairdryer. Technical Guide: You will receive a PDF Blueprint with dimensions and the silhouette of Woman 169 prior to our first session. The 6-Day Schedule Days 1–3: Constructing the expansive lower body and establishing the sculptural foundation. Interval: Structural drying period. Days 4–6: Tapering the walls, mastering the closure of the form, and surface refinement. Hosted online via Zoom | Prerequisite: Level 1 & 2 For tool images or questions regarding the Ø 30 cm wooden batt, please email info@karinasmagulova.com.
